At AC Gold Electrical we design and install emergency lighting ensuring it meets the emergency lighting code of practice for emergency lights in premises. We also offer contracts for the testing of your emergency lighting system and can give advice to help you meet the BS 5266-1:2005.

Emergency lighting is essential for the safety and well being of all individuals who enter the building . It is imperative that the emergency lighting comes on if the normal lighting fails. The emergency lighting must be suitably bright, stay on for a sufficient length of time and must be positioned correctly to ensure that the individuals within the building can be evacuated safely in the event of an emergency.

Testing of your Emergency lighting system

• Daily – visual checks should be carried out to ensure that your emergency lighting system is operating correctly and that the indicators are working. Any faults should be logged and corrected.

• Monthly – All emergency lights should be checked for any signs of damage or disrepair. Briefly test all emergency lights to ensure that they operate in the event of mains failure. Any faults should be logged and corrected.

• Annually – The full emergency lighting system should be tested and inspected annually. This should be carried out by a competent person who has the correct training, skills and knowledge to carry out emergency lighting maintenance and servicing. Any faults found during the inspection should be corrected.
